Canoe Maine Guide Services offers customized expedition canoe trips and camping guidance for people looking to experience the magic of the North Maine Woods - a vast unpopulated expanse of near pristine wilderness that is twice the size of Massachusetts. Group sizes usually range from 5-12 people for 3-7 day trips. Or if you have a reasonable amount of camping experience and want guidance on how to navigate/canoe the wilderness on your own, we provide trip itinteraries, packing lists, menus, equipment, and more for those looking to embark on their own trips. Family trips embark on the lakes of Mooselookmenguntic, Chamberlain, Upper and Lower Richardson, and Chesuncook. Longer river trips on the Allagash, St. John, St. Croix, Moose, and Penobscot are also available for more experienced paddlers. All ages and skill sets are welcome and trips are tailored to the ability and interests of the group. Limited availability for group trips on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in late 2023 are still available. Fully private trips are now booking for 2025.

 



Your Guide

Charlie Pearce is a Registered Maine Guide with over 20 years of trip leading experience in the North Maine Woods. In 2009 he through paddled the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile canoe expedition from Old Forde, New York to Fort Kent, Maine that traverses 23 rivers and streams(much of which is upriver), 59 lakes and ponds, and 65 portages (70+ miles). Outside of guiding Charlie heads strategy at the Department of Economic Research for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was previously appointed by Governor Charlie Baker as Director of Communications and Customer Outreach at the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. Prior to his work in state government, Charlie managed US Senate, Gubernatorial, and Ballot elections across the country. He also worked on 4 presidential campaigns – including as Trip Director to Mitt Romney in 2012 where he travelled nearly every day with the candidates managing field logistics. He is currently attending Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government where he is a 2023-degree candidate for a Master’s in Public Administration.
